Psalms 119:145-176 * 128, 129, 130; Jeremiah 25:30-38; Romans 10:14-21; John 10:1-18We have this iconic reading today! The image of Jesus as the good shepherd imbues so much of our imagery and understanding of Jesus' ministry. This is a very complex passage: some will come, some will not; some will come, not all will stay; there are others outside of the community who can and will be a part of this new kingdom; there are those who want to destroy the kingdom and scatter the people Jesus calls, but if we stay with Jesus they will not succeed. Jesus is the center of it all, the leader, the one through whom all enter.
Simplicity and complexity in 18 verses. The wonders of the Gospel.
